Shooting track and field events is how I started in sports photography. Meets are like a multi ring circus ... something going on everywhere you look.
I love shooting soccer. I learned to love the sport watching my kids play and by refereeing the game for 12 years.
I provide photos to Sonoma West Publishers. As a perk, I can get day credentials to professional events in the Bay Area. I took advantage and photographed a game at AT&T Park between the Giants and the Athletics. So much fun. You will also see some little league photos. Pay attention and you will see a kid pitching who has grown ...
The atmosphere at XC meets is so positive (similar to Track & Field). The kids are supportive of each other and celebrate each other's successes. Don't be fooled ... the competition is fierce.
I know next to nothing about wrestling. However, I've come to be a fan of the Healdsburg High program and their coach. My ignorance has not stopped me from admiring these athletes. It is intense.
The hitting is intense. While I played in high school and enjoy watching ... glad my sons didn't play.
Shooting in high school gyms can be challenging ... low light ... strange hues ...
While I provide sports photos for free, I am available to shoot for hire. I've photographed some great events. The internment of WWII vet John Sani whose remains were found in 2014 was one of the most rewarding.
I enjoy capturing candid portraits. These are some of my favorites. Each one makes me smile or reminds me of special times.
